Home Care (Personal Care / In-Home Aide)

Non-medical help at home — bathing, meals, errands, companionship.

What they don't tell you

Paid by the hour. National average is $30-$35/hour. Medicare doesn't pay for it. Some Medicare Advantage plans now cover limited hours; most Medicaid programs cover it under waivers. The math gets ugly fast: 8 hours a day at $30/hour is $7,200/month, which is more than most assisted living.
