Fall Risk

The likelihood that a person will fall — and a clinically meaningful predictor of decline.

What they don't tell you

One fall after age 75 doubles the chance of another fall within a year. A hip fracture has a one-year mortality of around 25%. Most falls happen at home, in the bathroom, in the dark. Address the bathroom and the lighting before anything else.
