Durable Power of Attorney (DPOA)

Legal authority for someone to act on your behalf for financial or healthcare decisions.

What they don't tell you

Durable means it survives your incapacity — which is the entire point. Without one, your family has to go to court for guardianship, which takes months and costs thousands. Two flavors: financial DPOA and healthcare DPOA. You usually want both.
