Type A / B / C CCRC Contracts

The three structures by which CCRCs charge for higher levels of care: Type A (life-care, mostly prepaid), Type B (modified, partial discount), Type C (fee-for-service, you pay market rate when you transition).

What they don't tell you

Type A has the highest entry fee and the predictable monthly bill. Type C has the lowest entry fee and surprise costs when you need skilled nursing. Type B splits the difference. Read the contract; the brochure won't tell you which type you're being sold.
