Walk into almost any memory care facility at 2:00 PM on a Tuesday, and you will likely see the same scene. A dozen people sitting in faux-leather armchairs, bathed in fluorescent light, staring at a television playing a loop of old game shows or a muted nature documentary. This is the physical reality of a service that costs an average of $7,500 to $10,000 a month. You are told you are paying for specialized, highly trained support, but most of the time, you are simply paying a premium for containment.
